You cannot failed to have noticed Matthew's excellent new summer anthem on Magic 'Still Got Tonight'. Matthew is one of the guys from Glee and not having seen the show, I expected this album to be a sugary sweet with the words bandwagon and jumping to the fore.

Far from it, this is a very versatile album from a guy who could really go on to be a force to be reckoned with. There are some contrasting styles on here, and he's managed to secure the services of Sting on his song 'Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot' and Sir Elton on Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters/Rocket Man.

Those impressive pairings aside, it's his solo sessions that really impress. Opener 'Summer Rain' is the sort of song Jason Mraz/Jack Johnson would kill for. 'My Name' is a great, building ballad, and catchiest hook of the year must go to the one on 'Hey'. Uptempo songs such as 'Don't Stop Dancing' and 'It Don't Matter To The Sun' are handled with ease, and on the final track, appropriately called 'It's Over' you can hear his potential for a stint on the West End stage as well.

I'd give it an 8 out of 10, which is much more than I thought I was going to give it. An impressive debut from a future pop/rock star. After all, Sting and Sir Elton don't just record with anyone, you know.
