The Time of Your Life Dance Academy was launched in Spring 2010. A brand new programme set up by Magic 105.4's Cash for Kids, and supported by the hit West End musical Dirty Dancing ran for one year.

This exciting partnership, delivered by London Youth Dance, London Youth and JumpStartMove aimed to introduce young people across the capital to the great health benefits of dance - as well as familarise them with the thrilling experience of live theatre, and provide them with vital skills to equip them in their ongoing lives.

The project was funded using money from Dirty Dancing's special Valentine's Day Gala Performance on Saturday 13th February 2010. It raised £40,000 for our Cash for Kids charity, which aims to support under 18s living within the Magic 105.4 region who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically less advantaged.

Ten 'Time of Your Life Dance Academies' launched across London covering boroughs including Lambeth, Westminster and Camden. The refreshing and unique programme aimed to encourage healthy lifestyle options by promoting the physical, mental and general well being of children and young people. The Academy's first showcase took place in July at the London Youth Dance Day, with a further live performance at The Scoop at More London, near London Bridge.

As well as joint activities with the company of Dirty Dancing and the opportunity to watch the breathtaking show at London's Aldwych Theatre, the aspiring dancers were given the chance to attend summer schools offered by Sadler's Wells. They were also invited to take part in dance days run by professional artists and visit Sadler's Wells Theatre.

The Time of Your Life Dance Academy ran through the summer holidays and into the winter, culminating in a grand finale in March 2011. Friends and family were invited to watch the young dancers perform as part of a full length show on the Sadler's Wells main stage.
