Online listening outside the UK

Unfortunately, new broadcast licensing rules have recently come into effect which requires radio station web-streams to be limited to the UK audience only. This is administered by checking your computer's IP address against a geographic database. IP addresses could be registered and/or routed anywhere, so the database may not be 100% accurate (especially for business users). If you are in the UK and still unable to listen online, please check your IP address (a number of sites will do this for you, such as www.whatismyipaddress.com), and let us know the result. We can then add it to the database as an exception. We can only reinstate listeners at home or at work, from within the UK, who have been excluded with the Geo-IP DB. For example, for home listeners who use AOL as their ISP - AOL regularly use non-UK IP addresses and as such will get blocked with Geo-IP system. Listeners from work usually get blocked because their proxy server is routed though non-UK IP address. Home listeners are advised to give us their IP address. Listeners from work are slightly different - you need to get your IT department to provide their company IP address(es).

What we cannot do is reinstate listeners from outside the UK. This contravenes the new PPL license.

Listening Online
1. What do I need to listen to Magic 105.4? To listen on-line this site requires that you have a recent version of Windows Media player. Windows media player for PC's can be downloaded here
2. Can I listen on a Mac? Windows Media Player for Macs can be downloaded here
3. I have problems listening via Windows Media Player? For best results, you PC must be running Windows 2000 or XP (Professional or Home edition) with the latest version of Windows Media Player. It is very important your PC is free of spy/adware, this is the main cause of unusual problems when trying to listen to radio streams, due to the spyware consuming a chunk of your available bandwidth. Spy/Adware can show its presence by popup web pages appearing, search toolbars being attached to windows and the PC running very slowly. Microsoft offer a free spyware remover tool on their website - www.microsoft.com. Please check that you have the latest version of Windows Media Player. For more help, please check the Windows Media help page on the Microsoft site. A list on FAQ's help and troubleshooting can be found here
